Christine: A Mindfulness-Based Therapist Studio Branding Photoshoot in Denver
Meet Christine, a mindfulness-based therapist passionate about supporting her clients through deep healing and transformation.
Christine just moved to the Denver area from Austin (my hometown!) and she wanted to use this transition to elevate her professional presence with therapist branding photography that reflected her warmth, expertise, and approachability.
Christine knew that potential therapy clients can form their first impression through online visuals, and she wanted her branding photos to communicate trust, authenticity, and connection.
Deciding To Work Together
Christine and I worked together down in Austin for a shoot last summer (in 100°+ temps!) which came out amazing. She was ready to update her photos now that she’s moved to a new state, and wanted to get some fresh imagery for this new transition in her career.
She realized that personalized branding photography could help her establish a stronger online presence, attract more aligned clients, and showcase her work in a way that felt authentic to her values, especially moving to a new city where she can reimagine how she presents herself in this community.
Because we had already worked together in a therapist branding photoshoot last year, so she knew she could trust me to capture her authentic self and collaborate on sharing her brand story through images. So we got to work!
The Day of the Shoot
Choosing the right location is important for branding shoots because you want it to be a space in which you can capture your brand message, feel good, and it matches your vibe. You want the space to be well lit for high quality of photos, and a setting where you can showcase your therapist skills.
For this shoot we chose the beautiful, light-filled Sun Room at the Realm Studio in Denver. This studio is an ideal setting for professional headshots for therapists because it has multiple staged areas that can convey therapeutic work, and because of the natural lighting flooding the room, it feels inviting and authentic.
We started with relaxed warm-up shots to help her feel at ease, and within minutes, she was radiating confidence. Throughout the shoot, we explored different backdrops and settings within the studio, allowing Christine to express the many facets of her work—from thoughtful and introspective to warm and approachable.
We featured some of her looking relaxed in front of a blank backdrop, being present in the moment with a cup of coffee (which emphasizes her mindfulness-based approach), ready to connect with clients on the therapist couch, and working with a “client” (we had another therapist on site for a shoot).
I focused on capturing her authentic self and connecting with clients through the camera.
Overall we got multiple poses that can accurately express her brand story to her clients, and will work beautifully on her website, as an bio image on a clinic website, or to use as branded content for her private practice’s social media accounts.
Christine become more comfortable as the session progressed, and she embraced the process which gave us a stunning collection of therapist branding images that felt natural, engaging, and true to who she is.
We also snuck off to the Denver Botanic Gardens after the photoshoot to capture a few unconventional non-branding photos in the cafe at the gardens. It was a fun way to celebrate a successful shoot and snap some extra pictures just for fun! (Plus so the GORG orchid exhibit at the gardens happening right now.) I’m a member of the gardens and know the gardens through and through, so this site is always a great option in Denver for shoots with me.
The Final Gallery
Christine’s final gallery included a mix of professional therapist headshots, candid moments, and lifestyle branding photos that capture her identity and work as a clinical counselor. I sent a pre-shoot guide to prep her for the shoot, including facial expressions, posing, and outfit ideas. During the shoot, I coached her through posing, which emotions to convey through her facial expressions, and we got creative in the moment with different posing, “scenes” in the studio, and outfits/props that we’d brought.
While these are important for any photoshoot, they’re especially key for capturing therapist branding images because these elements help mental health professionals build trust with potential clients. Would you trust and want to hire a therapist with a blue steele face or duck lips? Probably not.
This shoot captured Christine’s unique energy and will give her great content to use on her therapy website, social media, and any marketing materials. She now has a set of branding photos that reflect her authentic self and connects with her ideal clients.
How These Photos Can Impact Her Business
Christine plans to use her branding photography across her website, social media, and professional directories to create a polished and consistent online presence. These high-quality images will help her stand out in a saturated market, making it easier for potential therapy clients to connect with her before their first session.
Having professional headshots for therapists also builds credibility. When clients see high-quality images that reflect her personality and professional style, they are more likely to feel a sense of trust and connection—one of the main factors when choosing a therapist.
Especially when people are suffering and reaching out for psycho-emotional support, they want to trust the person they’re asking for help. So their decision to reach out is often emotionally driven, which is why therapist brand photos are so important.
At still / space Branding & Photography, we specialize in working with therapists and counselors. Our mindful approach ensures your brand is authentic, cohesive, and aligned with your values.
And when you have professional photos, the implicit message you’re sending is “I care about myself enough to invest in doing things right, and you can trust me to care about you.”
Why Branding Photography Matters for Therapists
Therapists are in the business of human connection. Unlike traditional corporate branding, therapist branding photography isn’t just about looking professional; it’s about communicating warmth, approachability, and authenticity.
Potential therapy clients often browse multiple therapist websites before making a decision. Having high-quality therapist headshots that genuinely reflect who you are can make all the difference in creating an emotional connection that leads to a booking. Professional branding photography for therapists helps:
Establish a strong first impression
Build trust and credibility
Stand out in a competitive field
Attract aligned clients who resonate with your approach
Create a cohesive and professional online presence
Christine’s Reaction & Experience
When Christine saw her final therapist branding images, she was thrilled. She shared that the experience was comfortable and enjoyable, just like she expected from a still / space branding shoot. She was so glad she made the investment since she had just transitioned to a new city and was eager to establish herself and her brand here in Denver.
Seeing herself reflected in professional therapy branding photos that captured her authentic essence was an empowering moment, reinforcing her confidence in her work and brand. Now she’s ready to go out into the world and share who she is and who she serves!
